Ever just want to tear your hair out, or someone else's? If you cannot restore a sense of balance, you will run away from home? Just want to say some things without the constraints of staying on topic? Well, this thread is for you! If you just need a short break to let it all hang out, be a brat, then come on, you can do it. No holding back! Go for it, you can do it.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

the wreath and poinsettia look rather sad compared to the Festival of Lights from years past
Hoping this roommate works out better.
Who knows, maybe they will both be wreaking havoc together, and the Viking can teach roomie a thing or two.
I hope they both get new teddy bears for Christmas! If you have worked enough overtime.
Thanks for liking my decoration ideas.
My avatar is a life preserver.
Just throwing that out there.
I like your decoration idea, especially the sign in the manger, "He is not here" :)
Is your avatar a flotation device or part of a candy cane?
I don't believe conspiracy theorists or scientists about the exact and unknown birth date of the baby Jesus, so I do not know the date. No one else knows either, so I am content to follow the traditional celebration designated as Christmas.
I don't need a donkey or lights.
Now I am thinking I just need a bright star.
A bright star, shining down.
Down on the cradle full of straw.
With no baby inside.
Just a sign:
"HE IS NOT HERE".
Maybe, just a star will do. No sign.
Did you turn the pressure cooker off on the tamales?
Maybe that was your EQ at about 3 a.m.?
I think it was thrown into traditions that now are and stuck. Just saying.
But dH needs to participate.
Even though I love monochromatic, this is just not working.
I am trying to be sensitive to my dH 's preferences: No santa, no wreaths, no christmas trees. If one believes conspiracy theorists or scientists, this is even the wrong time of year to celebrate Jesus' birth.
I have a quirky idea, but absolutely no one would like it. They may throw red vegetables at my house. Instead of a Creche (animals, angels, baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph) here is this:
Only a hand made wooden manger, straw is in it, a light shines up into the sky from the "crib," Looking inside, visitors would see a sign that reads:
" HE IS NOT HERE".
Maybe I won't have any lights, and just rent a donkey.
