Happy birthday to you too Nacy! Birthdays haven’t been relevant to me since I was a young bride, when every birthday and holiday was a test of my first husband’s love. Good grief, ‘what fools these mortals be!’

I’m math-phobic. Have been since 4th grade and those times tables records Mrs. Larson would put on the portable record player and then adjust the speed depending on how sadistic she felt that day.

She was a great teacher - changed my life in some very positive ways. But now, numbers make me cry. I’ve always thought that’s why I never know how old I am and can never figure it out without help. But maybe it’s more common than I thought.

Boy am I going to be in trouble when I start having cognitive tests! If I’m asked to count backward from 100 by 7s I may disintegrate.

Peasuep, you could actually have a touch of dyscalclia. It's math dyslexia. Look it up when your board, see if you relate at all.

Okay everyone I'd like a little advice -
We are invited to nephew#1's place the Saturday before Christmas and the menu apparently will be fondue. Bearing in mind some of us will be travelling hours to get there and home again, what can we bring to supplement this meal?

I'm thinking a plater of things like summer sausage, and pepperoni, mostly meats, because fondue is usually cheese.

Cw, If we’re talking cheese fondue, crusty French bread or pretzel bread, or any vegetable crudités that hold together when dunked.
Something fun and sparkly to drink or a light, fruity dessert? Maybe a light, cold side dish like broccoli faro salad with lemony dressing.

Oooo, I like the broccoli salad with a lemony dressing idea, something to balance the inevitable fat, carb and meat dominance. And adding something like faro would almost make it a meal in itself, which is good because I'm a little concerned that this might have us hitting a drive through when we get home.

I was just in Phoenix and in a "healthy" quick-food restaurant my son ordered a chia seed "pudding" parfait. I would never in 1000 yrs have ordered such a thing (also because one of the ingredients was coconut which I'm not fond of) but as he was eating it curiosity got to me so I had a spoonful. I wanted to finish it. I looked up the pudding part recipe: It is chia seeds soaked overnight in both coconut water and coconut milk, with some cinnamon, a little salt, agave syrup and they garnished it with fresh blueberries, cut stawberries and crunchy honey-oat granola. I went back the next day and got the banana chocolate syrup granola version. I can't wait to make it at home, I hope it tastes the same. Looking to improve my very unhealthy evening snack-while-watching-kdramas habit.

Cw, let me know if you want me to send you my salad recipe via private message.
Keep in mind that if the fondue is good you will not be hungry when you leave. (I’ve got an outstanding recipe for that too!)

Nacy, I looked up dyscalculia - VERY interesting and I didn’t know it existed, but that’s not what’s going on with me. I definitely have a really bad case of math anxiety. I’m glad they don’t teach math like that anymore.

Dinner? Tomato basil soup, ham on rolls and leftover air fried Brussels sprouts.

Elder daughter is home from school for a few days. One of her favourites: Chicken with pineapple and peppers on a bed of rice.
Edit: Last exam, written earlier - MATH. 😱

Chili using Mccormick low sodium packet, beef, pinto beans and cornbread. Easy easy, warms tummy on a cold day.
