She can barely walk at all without falling. When the sun goes down she's looking for her mother and sees ghosts, and keeps trying to get out. She insists she's 20 years old. She is now on lorazepam to calm her down but it doesn't seem to do much I know the next step is Haldol but I am afraid to give it to her does anybody have any suggestion about this strong medicine Haldol?

Haladol is a antipsychotic drug and is used to treat many disorders such as temors, tics (not the bug kind) delirium and severe behavior disorders in children and etc. The side effects can cause dry mouth, insomnia, sleepiness, dizziness, headaches, loss of appetite, weight gain, and etc. This drug should be the last resort. Now that I said that Haladol it is effective, and most people do very well on it for short periods of time.

You say your mom is on Lorazepam. How long has your mom been on it? I ask because it can take up to 6 wks before it gets through her system. So you may want to give it time. As always talk to her Dr about your concerns.

This is just information about Haladol and should be taken as such.
