Find Care & Housing
Just looked at your profile: this is a guess, but your elderly mother has been getting frailer over recent years, had a stroke, has been in hospital, has been discharged home (?), has perhaps (if your local authority provides this) had her six weeks of reablement and/or urgent domiciliary care provided free, and now has to move on to the next, more permanent stage of ongoing care. Which as you have just found out is very far from free.

I expect this might have come as a bit of a shock. It often does.

Does your mother live alone?

Sorry, who is the "they" you're talking about?

By "the authorities" you mean your mother's local authority? What usually happens is that the LA puts your mother's care package out to tender and local agencies offer services.

4 visits daily 7 days a week is what's usually called a full package of care, and indicates that your mother needs a good deal of support. Who assessed her, and why did she need the assessment?

If you'd like to say a little more about her situation, perhaps we can shed some light on what to expect.

It sounds as though you are going to need placement for Mom. I think the cost of in home care is very costly, as it is in the United States.
