My husband’s is 80 and has pancreatic cancer. He has been in the hospital a lot in the past 2 yrs, almost died 8 months ago with dead bowel double pnemonia and septis. Dr said he would make it, but he still has prostrate cancer. We are sick and disabled and getting overwhelmed with everything. I need help.
food--Snap benefit card (used to be food stamps)--
meals on wheels--check with the County Center for Aging
utilities--My county and Mom's county different state gives vouchers to pay utility bills
hospice--if either of you enroll in hospice you get free depends
welfare--you might also qualify for this
As Lea said, this is a forum. We cannot help financially. Your County should have an Office of Aging where you may get resources to help you. Most places have senior bussing.
Aside from the other suggestions, also please consider reaching out to a local church. Many churches have Elderly or Care ministries and you do not need to be a member or even a believer. Keep calling until you find a willing/able church. I'm on one such a ministry at my church so I know they exist. Many churches have benevolent funds for emergency financial situations.
Please come to grips with the fact that you may no longer be able to afford your home and car going forward. Downsizing may be the solution, and getting yourselves into a care community/facility where you will have help daily.
Your situation would overwhelm anyone. May you receive all the help you need and peace in your heart as you move through to permanent solutions.
Call 211 for resources in your area.
Best of luck to you.
