I'm healthy now had cancer 2 times, been cancer free 2 years. My sister has 1 adopted son, him & his wife had POA & guardianship of her but they removed it, he isolated her from her family, was moving her to S Carolina to get her away from her family, when he told her she lost about 50 lbs quickly & picked sores in her head. She told nursing home he beat her in the head and assaulted her sexually, he bragged to my other nephew how he beat her with a belt, I was told because of my age I may be too old, I know ageism does exist.
They are coming to court to try to get the guardianship back, they got all her money, but she's terrified of her son

Who removed them. Did the State remove them? If so, then the State may now have guardianship.

The only way u can get guardianship is thru the courts. Once you get it its very hard to get rid of it. A woman I know tried and has been turned down by the State. It is very expensive to be awarded guardianship. The State will want an accounting every year. If sister is on Medicaid this too has to be updated every year. You don't needed to do hands on care but you will be making decisions for her. More stable than a POA. Just see a lawyer and he will be able to help you.

Has anyone called Adult Protective Services on them? Do you have an attorney?

Why would they not? Because of your age? 68 is pretty young in the scheme of things.

Are you in good health?  Are any other family members vying for the position?  Does she have husband or kids?  I think you would be eligible but others may want it too
