if he is that far along in his dementia is he going to remember those people? The way you wrote the question is telling. You don’t want to move. So don’t. He wants independent living in this other town. He can’t have that- you said it would be assisted living in that town. If he’s level 5 of 7, are you sure it wouldn’t be memory care instead? I wouldn’t move. You’ve got 20 more years to worry about … he will decline, dementia only goes one way. Is he actually telling you he wants independent living in this other town? My dementia father would not be able to articulate that. I’m surprised a level 5 85-year old can.
