As Power of Attorney for both my Dad (92) and my Mom (86), can I get the address change for their State ID's without taking them in to Illinois DMV? They are living with me now, but their ID's have the old address.

From the Illinois Secretary of State website:
Your driver's license/State ID card file and your vehicle registration file can be updated by visiting a Secretary of State facility, or by submitting your change of address online using the links at the bottom of this page. Address changes must be submitted for BOTH the driver's license/State ID card file and the vehicle registration file as they are separate databases. Please provide address change information on every vehicle that is registered in your name.

If you would like to update the address on your actual driver's license/State ID card, you must visit a Secretary of State facility and bring two Acceptable Identification (Group D) and pay the appropriate fee.

So it would seem that you can change it for the database only online, but for the actual ID Card you must do that in person. Since that is their proof of who they are and where they reside, I'd go ahead and get a new card with new photo on it.

Gosh, that doesn't make it very easy for elders or anyone who finds it difficult to get to the DMV.

Here in the Commonwealth of Virginia, when my Dad moved to his new residence at a senior living facility.... I was able to go on-line at the DMV, change his address and pay a fee to get a new Driver's License ID [since his old one hadn't expired]. The photo used was the photo they had on file.

Here in NY you do it online, and they send a new license.
