I just found out that the VA has a program called A and A (Aid and Attendance) where the VA can pay for a caregiver to come to your home and care for your ill vet. I have just started the process and wanted to know if anybody else has any experience they can share.

Not myself, but another poster submitted all the paperwork and got approval within four months. The applicant was over 90 and the VA gives that top priority.

We paid someone to do all of the paperwork for my Mom (my Dad was a WWII Veteran), and, the paperwork was acknowledged by the next month, with the first check coming to her on the first day of the next month. We were surprised how fast they got it going.

My brother filled out the paperwork and applied for my mother. It took about a year, but it was retroactive to the date of filing, so the first payment was a nice lump sum.
