In the throws of dementia, no way out, it will only get worse. I hope that she is in MC, where they are trained to deal with someone who is losing their mind.

Does she (your mother, your wife) have dementia? If so, the things you describe are common for dementia patients. If she is very anxious, perhaps you should tell her MD and maybe a medication to calm her will be prescribed.

His profile says caring for his wife who has Dementia.

What you describe is what happens to a person suffering from Dementia or Alzheimers. Has your wife been formally diagnosed? Is she on any medication?

We really need more info to be able to answer any concerns you may have.

TTS3, since you know that your wife has Alzheimer's/dementia [per your profile], it is also a wise choice to have her checked for an Urinary Tract Infection. Sometimes an UTI can cause people to see people who are not there, and can also mimic some dementia issues. Your wife's family doctor can run the test.

Are you correcting your wife whenever she says her parents will be home or the people in the outdoor shed? If yes, it is so much better to just play along then to try to correct. When my Mom [98] wanted to visit her parents, I used a therapeutic fib saying her parents were visiting the old country, and it worked.
