Trouble changing him etc. need to place in nursing home to get 24 care and rehab. Right now he is weak and bed bound. He came home Saturday and no available help due to snowstorm. Am I doing the right thing?

Did his doctor recommend rehab upon release? Most times it is straight from hospital to rehab. I would suggest you talk to his doctor, if he is even eligible for rehab. Do let the doctor know that you are unable to care for you Dad and wanting placement in a nursing home. Best of luck.

Doctor never signed off at all. In fact he did not know they released him. Yet form said he should have visiting nurse. I would have to pay for private Pt/OT.

GBenjamin, you brought him home with no chance of improvement. We have tried to tell you he will not get better. You just won't accept that. You are not doing the right thing. You need Hospice. Call them.

Brought him to hospital and then to new place. Which is like long term care.

Dad was very dehydrated and back to eating. New staff much better. Still waiting for tests but no Alzheimer's on initial exam.

Pam, it really sounds to me like the place he was in initially was badly run. We should sic the ombudsman on them.
