Ltc policy says wife must have state licensed carer to be covered. What happens if one day of care is by someone not licensed? I know not licensed carer is not covered, but if rest of the days the carers are licensed will those licensed carers continue to be covered under the policy? I don't want the company to cancel over one day.
If the person you want caring for your wife is able to obtain CNA certification that might be a good option. It would also equip that person with a better knowledge of what to do. And the classes are not long and not real expensive.
Another thought would be that that 1 day that the unlicensed person is caring for your wife would be a day that the insurance does not pay for and you pay out of pocket.
If no one comes back with a better response the way to get the correct information would be to contact the insurance company and ask what the procedure would be in this case.
You must discuss this with the policy people themselves and get things in writing; that is use email or any other paper trail you can prove.
Not sure how the billing goes. Does the agency bill the insurance company? If so, then they must have to send a copy of certification along for each aide you use? If they don't, they don't get paid and then u probably will get billed.
You really need to have this discussion with the agency u hire.
