I have a grandmother who's 89 and was very mean to me as a child. I'm currently 35. She fat shamed me alot put me down, and didn't believe me when my uncle sexually abused me. After he was released from prison she allowed him to move back in and kicked me to the couch. When I gave birth to my son she said I'd be a bad mother ect. Needless to say I didn't visit much. Now since I'm older I don't go to visit her on Christmas, Thanksgiving, nothing. She's in poor health but I just honestly don't care. My grandfather died 8 years ago so I stopped visiting since then. Am I a bad person for not caring and never visiting her?

Nope. She made her bed, so to speak, and you need not waste any brain cells on her.

No it doesn't make you a bad person. You are just protecting yourself from the the person who has harmed you over the years. You owe her nothing. Sometimes it's just best to stay away from the toxic people in our lives, as that is much healthier for us.
Just make sure that you're not repeating any of the abuse put on you with anyone else in your family or circle of friends. The dysfunction MUST stop with you.
I wish you well.

You’re not a bad person. You reap what you sow.

Looks like u were one of the wise ones. There are probably members of this forum wish they had cut out toxic people years ago.

No it does not make u a bad person. Makes you a smart person. You didn't and don't need this person in ur or ur children's life. They don't change they actually get worse. Go on with ur life with no guilt. You owe this person nothing.
