My Dad has this and Alzheimer s. What is the difference? He currently lives alone and I check on him daily, but I don't know how much longer he will be able to. He is in good health otherwise, but mentally I can see him deteriorating.

Find Care & Housing
He can no longer live alone. The combination of these two maladies has no good prognosis. Start looking at facilities now, most have a waiting list. All of them will help you sort out the financial aspect and refer you to a no fee benefits counselor.

Thank you so much. We found an awesome facility, but he refuses to consider it. He says we are getting along just fine. His hygiene is still good and he still takes care of his house, but I can't seem to find enough information on the excess fluid. I don't want to put him through more tests since the outcome will be the same no matter what.

Try looking up "Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus" or NPH. There are many sites with information, including Mayo clinic, alz. org and aans.org
