Hi, so I’m gonna go straight to the point I’m so confused on what to do next I was formally a Aid for my facility for 2 to 3 years now I recently got promoted to a management position and now I’m having trouble with one of the residence who love me by the way when I was a Aid now that I’m in management department, she’s accusing me of false allegations taking it to directors of the company now I have a meeting with directors about Manager reconstruction, which I have no idea what that’s about. I’m still fresh learning this side of the field and I just don’t know what to do. I’m afraid that they’re trying to let me go or switch me out to a different site which I do not prefer because I love where I’m at. How should I handle the situation? Come to some conclusion without being fired or transferred.
I would attend the meeting.
Clearly there is nothing that you can do but say that you did not do what the person accuses you of.
Most care facilities are WELL AWARE that these accusations happen ALL THE TIME. My own brother, in the throes of Lewy's dementia, accused someone of taking money that he A) was told not to keep in room and B) hid from himself by changing his hiding place. When I apologized to the administrator she said "That's OK; this happens a lot around here". And it does, because paranoia about their "stuff" is just about the first and worst thing to go.
You have your history, your good word, your professional attitude, your understanding that these things happen a lot, and your willingness to listen and cooperate.
"Management Reconstruction" must be the new euphemistic moniker for "We are changing some things around in so far as management positions go".
Good luck. Stay quiet, reasonable, listen, and be honest. It says a lot that you can say "I have a hard time understanding this because Mrs __________so loved me when I was her aid".
Hope you'll update us.
