What is the best way to get rid of big flakes falling off your parents' feet? My dad was in the hospital for 3 months and not one person took care of his feet. Now every time he takes his socks off the flakes and flakes and flakes I feel so bad for him.

This maybe caused by not drinking enough water. My Moms foot doctor was always complaining how dry her skin was.

I use Avon moisturizing handcream, blue and white label. I put it on and then a pair of socks.

Assuming his skin is intact and he isn't a diabetic:
Once a week he can do a warm foot soak for 10-15 minutes (you can add vinegar too, at a ratio of up to 1 of vinegar to 2 ofwater). Once soaked, and keeping his feet in the water, wet a washcloth, and gently lift one foot at a time and lightly rub the dead skin away. Don't forget between the toes! Then rinse them with clean water, gently dry. Once dry, apply a good lotion. He can do the lotion each day. If he's not a diabetic and he can wear socks to sleep in, he can wear some light socks overnight after he soaks & lotions up. (Do make sure he clean his feet each day--you don't want a weeks worth of gunky lotion and dead skin to build up).
Medicare pays for a basic maintenance toe trimming visit to a podiatrist every 6 months, so that might be something to consider as well. That could help rule out any other cause of the skin build up and flakiness, like diet or a fungus. If he's in an assisted living or other facility they may have a podiatrist that visits every few weeks--worth checking out.

Any problems to be seen besides the loose dead skin? When did he get home?
