lester, you can put the potty where it is convenient, but you can't make him use it. If he urinates and pitches feces on the floor often, it might be time to consider placing him in a skilled nursing facility. Doing these things is not only harmful for him, it is unsanitary for the people around him. Pitching feces says to me that there is some type of mental impairment in addition to his lung problems. Does he have dementia?

Should I tell you I laughed out loud at your post? Probably not.

I know it's not funny. The answer is that unless you are there to direct him, he probably won't be using the potty chair any time soon. His dementia has progressed to a state that is beyond loopy and into the Twilight Zone.

Yes, I'd agree it's probably time for a nursing home, but I also ask myself what THEY would do about it, since pitching feces around the room isn't considered even CLOSE to compliant behavior.

I'd say they'd medicate him. They'd put him in some footed PJs that were too difficult for him to remove. And they'd medicate him. They'd encourage him at every opportunity NOT to use the potty chair, but to take advantage of the diaper he was wearing. Did I mention they'd medicate him?

Talk to his doctor.
