I need recommendations of handyman services near Greenville, IL. My father-in-law nees some railings installed in his bathroom as well as near two sets of stairs outside. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

lindakg, sorry no one has answered in the past few hours. Apparently there aren't any caregivers on-line who are from Greenville, Illinois area.

Call your local County or City Council on Aging. Maybe they have a list of people who do that type of work.

When my parents needed railings or grab bars for their bathroom. They called their regular plumber who knew actually what they needed.

Do make sure the person understands what s/he's doing. Grab rails that can't bear full weight or aren't securely fixed are more dangerous than none; and it will also be worth putting some thought into the design of the stairs so that they're safe and comfortable for your FIL to use - they too need to have proper handrails, easily visible edges and good lighting.

If there's an Occupational Therapy service near you, they will probably be able to recommend suitable installers.

Bond County Health Department seems to have an Occupational Therapy service, don't know if you're already familiar with these people? Their contact details are online.

Home Depot or Lowe's.  Medical businesses that carry ADs.  When my mom was having her shower installed, I demanded that grab bars be installed because I could see what would happen if they weren't, and the tile had already been installed on the walls, so that was an added headache for the remodel people, but it had to be done...and it was worth it!
When my dad needed railing put in on his concrete stairs on the porch, I had the people who did the metal gingerbread install them for me/him.  They were persistent about doing it because I paid them to do it despite my dad's protests!  Again, it was worth it!

If you buy from Lowes, Home Depot, or local private contractors who are licensed, bonded & insured for their type business you may pay a little more, but it's safer for everyone. Stores and good local contractors have builders, installers, and others associated with their name/business so long as you buy the building/remodel supplies from them and make arrangements to have the area inspected and measured. From there you can discuss if your needs align with their expertise.
