We changed PCP for my mom to a doctor that would make monthly visits to her at her memory care facility. So far we have been on the same page as to what and mom is treated and I do like her.

She is recommending a palliative care approach, which I feel is best at this time.

She was consulted today because mom had been vomiting and it was a dark color, but with moms continuing anemia it was a concern, but could be related to her iron supplements. Vitals ok. Nausea could be attributed to the antibiotic she's been taking bc of a wound on her hip. It's not healing. Her doctor is really against any further transfusions.

Anoway, she has been recommending mom start hospice services, which I am not opposed to, more eyes on mom the better.

She is really recommending Suncrest Hospice, which is a for profit hospice that she is affiliated with, so she would continue to be mom's dr if we went that way. Per their website they have agencies in multiple states.

My aunt was well taken care of a few years ago by Austin Hospice which is a local non profit hospice and palliative care agency. I assume mom would have to change to their providers if we went that route.

Is there anyone here in the central Texas area that has used these services? I know a lot of care depends on who you get, but I'm not sure if non profit or for profit matters, or if the fact that her dr is affiliated with them makes her rec suspect? I really haven't had time to get to know her yet

VERY personal opinion here but I would opt for a NOT for profit Hospice.
I think the best way to do this in choosing would be to interview a few different Hospice and see how you feel about each one.
And keep in mind that you can elect to change Hospice if the first one does not work out.
There are ways to look into Hospice. They are rated on the Medicare website.
There is Social Media and read reviews there.
On Hospice her current doctor would no longer be her official doctor as the Hospice has their own doctors.
