If a house was set up for seniors (safety), would you put a parent into that house with a roommate, who needs the same level of care and a certified live-in healthcare worker?

Yes, I would. As the population ages and more and more baby boomers require care we will have to look for creative ways to take care of our elderly. Aging in place with a shared or co-housing model as an alternative to being alone or going into skilled nursing is going to grow. Set up properly, this is a very viable option.

I have been thinking this very same thing! I right now really need a place that I can rent for myself and my grandmother that is set up for her needs, and that will still allow me to care for her 24/7. I was thinking of trying to start a plan to create such a place that would be afforable and fully functional.
It would be a huge benifit to a property owner to think about building such a needed inovative place.

My ideal for single senior living is the Golden Girl model, with each person having their own room and lives, but coming together to chat and eat cheesecake. If one of them is a professional caregiver, then it would be just fine.

I have 3 different ladies that stand in for me: 4 hrs on Tues, 4 hrs on Thurs, and 7 hrs on Sat or Sunday. This enables me to ride motorcycles with my friends and make store visits. They are ladies I know and trust completely to care for my wife and will text o call in the event of an emergency. This costs me approx. $200.00 a week and is a bargain.

Tucker, I used care(dot) com to find my help, interview them fully first and check their background. You will pay for the month, but its worth it. Good Luck.
PS get cameras!
