This morning, my toothbrush came up gone. I keep it in a carry case. This is not the first time my stuff, which I keep in the bathroom, disappeared. There is a small cabinet behind the door in the bathroom that has multiple shelves. I want to put her name on the shelf and put her stuff on it for her, thinking she will leave mine alone. She is 80, has Parkinson's and dementia.

Her short term memory loss and processing ability will not allow her to learn new things.

I suggest you keep your toiletries in your room. You should leave nothing in the bathroom, like medicines OTC and prescription in the bathroom. Pretend Mom is a child and child proof your home, I also suggest that you put a lock on ur door to keep her out of ur bedroom.

If you don't want to go thru the trouble of a lock and have a round handle you can get baby proof covers. The go around and around. They have to be squeezed a certain way for them to be open.

With dementia, this likely won’t work. You’ll need to find a way to keep them out of her sight.

I agree, my mom has mistaken my clothes, car keys etc as hers. The only answer I’ve found is to keep my stuff private if I want to find it.

Thank you so much for your offers for the situation. I didn't want to go this far, removing my items, but I see that there isn't any other recourse.
