I left my healthcare job in 2020 during the pandemic to care for my family. With increased demands at the hospital there was little left for my family. That same year my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. After a long fight, she passed away this July. With the world settled into the new normal and mom at her final resting place I'm sensing it may be time to return to the Healthcare Industry and once again pour into the lives of others. Just trying to figure out what's next.

No doubt the world needs all the health care workers who are so inclined.

How are you feeling these days? It has been great that you have had these months to heal.

Wishing you good luck on what you decide.

I'm really still in the throws of grief, but finally having more good days than bad. I'm trying to plan for next year, praying that I will be ready for whatever my next steps will be.

The pandemic is still going on. Hospitalizations for Covid for the last week of CDC-reported data were up more than 17% from the previous week. Hospitals are bracing for a predicted Tripledemic as holiday gatherings kick in. I admire your wish to be helpful to others, but please take into account how it's going to play out in health care settings during the next several months. I don't know what your particular field is, but maybe you should consider becoming an in-home caregiver for those who need one. That cuts down on your exposure and could provide a wonderful essential service for at-home patients who are wary of going into a group setting due to their comorbidities.

Working in the healthcare industry, there will always be disease to deal with and never a 'good' or 'safe' time to return to your field, as you know. Now is as good a time as any, so my vote is to put your feelers out and get back to your career asap.

My condolences on the loss of your mother. May God bless you and guide you in this next chapter of your life.

I quit my job when my mother was dying from cancer, I never planned to be poor, so I went back to work.
