He keeps changing her number, threatens to leave if he finds out shes talking to me. I've left my home once and he forced me to leave. I left Ohio to go there because she has had my granddaughter since she was one. At 8, he said she was to much and he needed to take care my mom. He did nothing but cause me problems. I got a text from my mom that he and his daughter made my mom sign a quick claim deed to her home. There's a lot more but I can't afford an attorney can someone please advise?

Find Care & Housing
JennyleeB, welcome to the forum. Please note that this forum is made up of current caregivers taking care of an older love one, and previous caregivers who have been on that journey caring for an older love one.

Is your Mom a senior citizen or close to being one? You mentioned her husband wants you to come to take care of her, what are her health issues? Does she have memory issues? Curious why you had your Mom raised your daughter for the past 7 years? Have you helped your Mom with this caring of your daughter, such as sending her funds to help with her care?

Curious about the Quit Claim Deed on the house... was that done because your Mom was starting to have memory problems or other health issues?

Check with your local Legal Aid to see if they will take the case. Legal Aid usually helps for free.

It is your MOTHER who must make the complaint and she must make the complaint to the Attorney General or the police in her area. You can call APS if you wish to, but in the case of a competent person and who she marries and what she chooses to do in that marriage there is very little they can do. It's worth a try, telling APS what you have told us.

Unfortunately, if your mother signed a quit claim on her own home, this is a legal issue. There's no way through a legal issue but an attorney. Start looking into legal aid. Speak with your local police or sheriff about suggestions for a way forward. But if your mother is willingly staying where she is there will be very little YOU can do to help her.

I'm sorry but I'm really not understanding this at all

But I really don't think we can help, it sounds like you need an attorney, we are just a group of people, helping each out.
