Find Care & Housing
There is no such thing as a low cost nursing home, in reality. If you qualify, or your loved one qualifies, you can apply for Medicaid in your state for long term care in a Skilled Nursing facility.

Best of luck to you.

Move to the South.

Here’s the yearly NH private pay figures from couple of years ago:
LA 72K, AR 80K, AL 84K, TX 85K, MS 87K.
That comes to under $200 a day for Louisiana. Fwiw all low min wage States, like $7.25 - $7.50 hr.
compared with:
MD & NJ 146K, CA 148K, HI 170K & Alaska at a whopping 378K

Lea is spot on accurate…. If you can have your family member do whatever is necessary to get them LTC Medicaid eligible. Start your research to find a NH that has LTC Medicaid beds and will take a new custodial care resident as “Medicaid pending”. You may have to look outside of your city or county.
