We found Hello Fresh frustrating and annoying. The portions were very small and there was a great deal of prep work. There were limitations on what one could choose and then one week they sent us mostly pork dishes we had never ordered. Their customer service was also lacking in helpfulness.

Meals on wheels?

Need, that was the only one we tried. My son tried Blue Apron and Sunbasket during Covid. They also were not that pleased but it was mainly about the portions. HF provided very little vegetables and more starch. I would check other reviews. I just don't think those plans are good for us. I don't like large portions but it was so much prep work and they had so many rules about choices.

There’s a bunch of them. It’s always a good idea to check the reviews to see which ones are best.

My mom really enjoyed " Mom's Meals".
Medicare pays after a hospitalization or rehab. You can order from a catalog by phone and as many or little as you want.
A better quality than grocery stores frozen meals. Meals are selected according to select diets like low sodium.
The case manager assigned to your senior will contact their doctor first for diet details.

In Toledo, OH we had an excellent Mobile Meals program. The food was really tasty! They do freeze most meals, but there are some lunch choices that are not. I found them to be really tasty, and the delivery people were SO nice! Kind and engaging.

The problem was getting mom and sister to eat them. They ate junk instead, or ordered out. It was very frustrating—it should have been a good solution to the food problem. But for a more disciplined parent who just needs good food, this would have been good.

There was a choice for just 3 days a week, and soft food if you needed that for chewing issues, and special diets. You might be surprised—so much better than I expected.

Also—Medicare paid for this too after a hospital stay, surgery, and some other situations. Two weeks’ worth, I think. A good way to try Meals on Wheels for free.
