She wanted to move there and likes it. Her old place had lots of pictures of her 4 kids, their spouses, 6 grands & 6 great grands. Family has always meant a lot to her. But, now she has given every picture back to the appropriate persons. The only ones she still displays are of her and my dad (passed away 13 yrs ago) What's going on here?

It could be her way of letting go of that part of her life, and letting you guys know that she'll be alright. Every person is different though, so I can't know for sure.

As my grandmother aged (very much sound of mind) she gave me her prized possessions: 1, an inexpensive Buddha statue, which was the last present grandfather had given her before his passing and 2, her best and favorite photographs, recent pictures as well as some that went back to the early 1900s, all were relatives. She asked me to take these things with tears in her eyes, because she thought I would appreciate and treasure them. Maybe like my granny, your granny hates the concept of someone clearing out her prized possessions when she passes and prefers to find them a good home in advance, hence returning them. BTW, my granny did this years before she eventually passed.

Strugglingson3, I noticed on your profile that your Mom has Alzheimer's/Dementia. It could be that Mom is just starting to forget who the people are in the photos, but she still can remember your father.

Just let her place or hang the photos she wants.

I have seen my mom change so much at 96..The hardest thing for us as children is that they seem to do things they would not have done 20 years ago..I see my mother giggling and she never did that..Giving away pictures could mean anything like excepting her new life and just clinging to the picture of her husband..They just change for so many reasons..Phyllis
