My mom got new partials recently after frequent trips to the dentist to get the old ones adjusted. Turns out the new lower partial is causing her pain, too.

I'd found her a good dentist but for the last 3 visits, she's been seen by the dentist's associate. After the last visit, we're ready to look elsewhere since she treats my mom like she's being a bother for coming back so often with the same complaint. But enough about her.

Any suggestions on what can be done to cushion the partial so it doesn't pinch/hurt the gums? I think it's because of the gums receding/thinning (?)

I'm looking at all sorts of adhesives, reliners, and cushions but they all seem to be about keeping the partial from slipping. And I KNOW she'd object to using most of them because of their 'industrial' ingredients.

I know it's adding to her pain load and probably influences her eating as well.

Too bad they can't be returned for a refund ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ As it is, she's ready to drop them in the trash.

I would insist on seeing the dentist and let them know that the treatment has been disgusting. I would be sure and tell the dentist that you have been treated as a problem and ask if you can expect that kind of treatment for future work.

I would point out that you having to bring her in multiple times for the same problem is an issue with the service not your mom. Make them fix it.

It is normal to have to adjust the fit several times, a competent dentist should be able to see where the irritated spots are and smooth off those places on the appliance. And since this is new it should fit, thinning gums and all.

You might have found someone you think is a good dentist but unless they are giving you satisfaction there is nothing good about their services. Insist on seeing the senior partner, and keep in mind that even someone you consider "good" as a dentist is not necessarily equally good/competent at every aspect of dentistry, be prepared to visit a different denturist.

We are looking for a new dental practice since the problem isn't new. My mom was experiencing the same issue with the previous partial and the senior partner (who was working alone at the time). Multiple visits, multiple adjustments, pain/discomfort continued then as it does now.
Until she gets another doc, I was hoping a practical solution could be found
