Hi. My mom has developed an open sore that is getting worse. She is end stage Alzheimer. She’s been in hospice over a year. Barely eating. Losing a lot of weight. I pray she doesn’t suffer much longer. She’s in pain from the wound so they are treating her with morphine as they try to treat the wound. Anyone go through this? I just want her comfortable. It’s heartbreaking.

Is the pressure sore on or near her tail bone by chance? If so, that is typically a Kennedy Ulcer and is most often fatal, meaning that people with it don't live very long at all, which can be a blessing for sure as they don't have to suffer long.
And I'm glad hospice is able to provide pain medication for her as it sounds like her time here on earth is perhaps drawing to an end.
My husband while under hospice care in our home and completely bedridden developed a bedsore on the inner part of his lower calf. They treated it best they could, but it never did completely go away.
I pray that your mom will be pain free and will go from this world to the next in peace. God bless you both.

There is a special bed that turns patients regularly. You might ask hospice if that’s appropriate.
