A guardian was appointed after I closed the account. Can the guardian do anything about my stepdad telling me to close the savings account? He told me to do it to insure that the guardian wouldn't get it. Now the guardian has forbidden me to see my stepdad.

How did a guardian get appointed? Who initiated that? Something doesn't sound right.

Sone thing is not right. A guardian is generally appointed by an attorney. Also, family members are made aware of reasons for the guardianship plus have right to contest. Seek legal counsel quickly. His assets can disappear.

Close the savings account and do what with the money that was in it?

I hope you can prove that you were acting on your stepfather's instructions. Because to the courts or to adult protective services, this has the potential to look very dodgy indeed and you could find yourself in serious trouble. In what way were you added to your stepfather's accounts - who did the paperwork?

Your step-father didn't want the guardian to get the money? Was the guardianship petition already in progress when you closed the account? If so, who was the guardian at litum during the petition review? Since the step-father has been declared incompetent and has a court appointed guardian, I recommend turning the money over to the guardian (in a very documented manner) immediately!

If SD has been appointed a guardian, it was determined he is incompetent and can't handle his own affairs. Where did the savings account money go? Have you been shown paperwork that SD now has a guardian? Are you confusing a Durable Power of Attorney, which SD assigns, with guardianship, which is given by the courts?

It boggles me that StepDad was aware of a guardianship. That he was able to add u to his accts. Doesn't sound like someone who needs a guardian.

Once a guardian is assigned by the courts, that person has to give an accting every year on the well being of the person he/she is guardian for and produce financial records showing the person's money is going toward them. The guardian cannot use that money for themselves unless the court has stipulated they are entitled to a salary for the work they do.
