My mother has congestive heart failure, dementia, a UTI and a small fracture in her back. When we took her to ER they would not admit her and when we made a Dr. appointment for the next day, she sent her home despite saying she couldn't stay home alone. She also said that she would write her in after the x-ray result. In reality, she canceled her home health because my mother's long term Dr. retired and then didn't write her for anything. So, no skilled nursing or antibiotics. She has Medicare A and B and pays $330 a month for Pekin supplement ins. Yet, they turned her away even though we were verbally told once that following an x-ray, she could be admitted into skilled nursing. My family is stunned by the treatment of an 89-year-old tax paying, law abiding, and insurance holding citizen. Please, any advice on what to do next? We feel lost, frustrated and she's getting weaker by the day.
