I think the idea of hiring someone to come to your home and diaper your husband is a non-starter.

Would they be 'on call' 24/7? Or this a once a day deal. (PLease don't tell us he only gets changed once a day...)

If he combative, angry or uncooperative, he can be sedated slightly to allow for some re-direction and calm conversation as you change him.

If he refuses to be kept clean--and you can't/won't medicate him--it may be time to look for placement.

More than likely you will need to "hire" the good folks at your local memory care facility, as it sounds like your loved ones care has gotten to be too much for you.
At most facilities the CNA's are supposed to change their patients every 2 hours, though I know that doesn't always happen, but at least they'll be changed more than they are now.
Wishing you well in finding the right facility for your loved one.

So sorry .
We are in the same sad battle for the last 16 months with my father in law . He still rarely allows help . He sits in the same pull up on all day . He is in assisted living with dementia and does not want his “ independence taken away “.

So this is your husband and I assume he lives at home. This ia a custodial issue but you do not explain why you cannot do it. Is he combattive? If he sits too long then it affects his skin. You call around to professional caregivers in your area. You will not be able to find someone on call. It is usually in 4 hour segments. Or, he needs medication for behaviors. Or he needs to go to a facility where more than one person may convince him.

You can either hire a private caregiver or hire a caregiver from an agency.

There are pros and cons to each situation.

If this situation isn’t able to be addressed adequately with caregivers at home, you may want to consider a placing your husband in a facility.

Wishing you and your husband all the best.
