I've been disabled for over a decade and am in a state Medicaid community waiver program that pays him to care for me. Would this income be in jeopardy if the VA says he's disabled?

Wouldn’t he switch over to Disability payments then? I don’t understand VA regulations, but I think that’s what usually happens. I have to ask though, if hubby’s health is that compromised, is he able to continue caring for you?

Yes. His help is limited to doing dishes (we have no dishwasher), laundry and making the bed. He is able to do all of these with frequent pauses.

Is your husband collecting SS? If so he cannot claim disability in that respect. This is what my husband was told. So claiming disability with SS won't bring in a anymore money.

If husbands disability is not service related, I don't think VA will do anything. If u are talking Aid and Attendance and he is able to get it, then yes, it may effect ur Medicaid if they consider total income for u getting it. But then the A and A is for his care...

These are really questions you need to first ask the VA office near you then follow up with Medicaid.
